OUR 2024-25 season

March 27 - April 13, 2025

The Wayside Motor Inn

Directed by Moira Nikander-Forrester

The play is set in a suburban motel room in the present and is comprised of five separate subplots which take place simultaneously in the one room.

Unfolding before us are the stories of ten ordinary people who find themselves at the wayside of their lives, wondering which turn to take. Their difficulties and conflicts are commonplace, but it is in their presentation, playing off each problem, in tandem and in counterpoint, which makes the ordinary become

extraordinary.

The Wayside Motor Inn has many comic moments but it also qualifies as a dramatic piece as each of the conflicts Gurney’s characters confront builds to a dramatic conclusion in the second act.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Directed by Margaret Murray

“The course of true love never did run smooth,” says Lysander, and so it is for four young romantics who run from the world that seeks to keep them apart and into the night woods where they are ensnared in the surreal realm of the Fairies. This is no flowery haven but the playground of the quarreling Titania and Oberon and his fairy subject Puck who ensures that his master’s love potion throws all who enter into a dizzying dream where he can beguile and bend them. Caught in this dreamy web are the hapless ham actors from town who think to secretly rehearse their craft by night in the woods but flee from their hilarious leader Nick Bottom who becomes the toy of the fairy prankster Puck.

As the sun sets, step into the spellbound woods and discover that the desires and dreams of young indulged lovers are no less passionate than those of the “hempen homespun” Nick Bottom and awaken to a world of hearts made kinder by the power of love and imagination.

The Sound of Music

Directed by Moira Nikander-Forrester

The Sound of Music, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s final collaboration, is coming to the BTG stage! Set at the beginning of WWII, it is based on the true story of the Von Trapp family who lived in Austria and escaped the scourge of the Nazis. This incredible production has it all: romance, comedy, intrigue, adventure, suspense, and high drama – all of which come together with the exquisite music score that is still beloved the world over. When a religious novice proves too high-spirited for the cloistered life, she is sent to serve as a governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her rapport with the children, together with her kind spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain, and they marry. Upon returning from their honeymoon, they discover that Austria has been annexed by Nazi Germany, who demands the Captain’s immediate service in their Navy. The family’s escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides one of the most thrilling and inspirational finales in theatrical history.

A glorious treat for the entire family. We are thrilled to present this joyous masterpiece to you at last.

Hilda's Yard

Directed by Alexandra Bell

Picture a summer day in 1956. The kids have finally moved out and you are ready to settle into your golden years with your spouse by your side before a shiny new television set. This is the vision that Sam and Hilda Fluck are enjoying. The laundry line is set, the drinks are in the fridge, and the sun is shining in the backyard. What could possibly go wrong?

As the day progresses and the Fluck yard and home become host to a cast of characters --some who do not even bother to use the door and arrive by fence--but Sam and Hilda realize that their dreams of an idyllic empty nest may have been nothing more than a delusion.

Canadian playwright Norm Foster thrills again with a touching and heartfelt comedy that covers themes of life, love, and social change in the span of one day with the Flucks.

Over the River and Through the Woods by Joe Dipietro

Directed by Jeremy Henson

This modern-day heart warming comedy by playwright Joe DePietro, tells story of an Italian-American family facing  an upheaval.  Their single grandson Nick has a dream job offer to move to Seattle but both sets of his very traditional-minded grandparents conspire to keep ihim close to their homes in New Jersey.  As Nick's parents have already migrated to Florida, Nick is the only connection to the family close by.  Both sets of grandparents devise a plan to keep Nick in New Jersey.  The ensuing action is both surprising, moving and ultimately a story of an immigrant family creating a new narrative for itself.

It is a play about deep familial love, intergenerational relationships, and is at once hilarious and deeply touching.  It had a successful run on Broadway and was hailed as "Loaded with laughs every step of the way". You won't want to miss it.
