The Foursome ‘Playing Through' at the Pinnacle Playhouse

Belleville: It may be a “guy” thing, but when Norm Foster’s play The Foursome opens in the Pinnacle Playhouse on Thursday, Oct. 10, you can bet there will also be a lot of women in the audience.

If any current Canadian playwright has earned a reputation of being able to make audiences laugh, it is Foster. A good laugh can be hard to come by and is always good for the soul, thus my prediction that this Belleville Theatre Guild production, like other Norm Foster plays, will draw large, mixed and happy audiences.

Some of the guild’s most experienced players are in this all-male cast which offers an insight into the male psyche as they swing their way around a golf course as part of a 15th anniversary reunion of their university class, reminisce about their youthhood and talk frankly about their current status, including their wives and children, or the lack of.

The dialogue between holes is often hilarious and sometimes laced with surprising, perhaps even serious revelations.

Lorraine Creighton is directing this season-opener play and has enthused about the talent and enthusiasm of her cast. They are Marvin Tucker, Jim Ross, Scott Roedvoets and Andy Palmer.

The Foursome runs Oct. 10-26, Wednesday through Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sunday matinée on Oct. 20. The Sunday matinée on Thanksgiving weekend will run on Tuesday evening, Oct. 15. Tickets are $20 ($18 for seniors, $10 for students) for non-season ticket holders, available from the Box Office, (613) 967-1442.

The Belleville Theatre Guild offers elevator service right into the theatre, a barrier-free washroom, and room in the front row for wheelchairs and other mobility devices. See you at the Pinnacle Playhouse!
