Synopsis:
It has been called the greatest farce ever written about the theatre. People remember laughing uncontrollably and can still quote lines and recall incidents in detail. Frayn lampoons onstage and backstage carryings-on of those who take themselves too seriously — who flub lines, miss cues, pamper egos, indulge romantic fantasies, battle cast mates, and otherwise behave badly. This brilliant play-within-a-play makes it impossible, ever again, to think of sardines as just food.
