Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike

By Christopher Durang
October 13-29, 2022

Directed by Lise Lindenberg

Vanya and his adopted sister Sonia live together quietly in their late parents’ house. Their parents, former literature professors and Anton Chekhov scholars, named their three children after characters in his plays. Masha, the eldest sibling and owner of the family home, is a successful aging movie star who comes to visit with her young, shallow boyfriend, Spike.

The story is wonderfully enhanced by Cassandra, the weekly cleaning woman who has visions that are largely ignored, and Nina, the young wanna-be actor staying next door with her aunt and uncle.

We watch with delight as these characters deal with messy, awkward and zany situations.
