To the valued members and guests of the Belleville Theatre Guild,

With growing global concerns around COVID-19 (“Coronavirus”), we wanted to provide you with an update on our response to date and our commitment to you moving forward. The health, safety and well-being of our guests, members and employees is a top priority for us and we are following the lead of Canadian and local public health authorities at this important time.

First and foremost, we want to assure you that we are taking all appropriate measures to ensure our theatre and rehearsal spaces are safe and that we have implemented protocols to ensure it stays that way. While the Public Health Agency of Canada has assessed the current public health risk associated with coronavirus as low, we continue to monitor for developments very closely. We have been in communication with the local Health Unit and will continue to look to them for guidance as we move forward.

We have implemented additional measures to ensure your safety as well as the safety of our members, casts and crews, including:

  • Introducing enhanced cleaning protocols in the theatre, with particular focus on high traffic and high contact areas. Viruses are easily eliminated by routine surface cleaning, and we have implemented more frequent cleaning of risk areas in the theatre.

  • Increasing communications and reminders with our members and guests on our health and safety measures.

At this time the Pinnacle Theatre will remain open and activities will continue. Use of the theatre will continue as follows:.

  • Rehearsals for Mamma Mia! as scheduled by the production team.

  • The auditions for Vanya & Sonya & Masha & Spike will proceed as scheduled for March 15 and 16, and rehearsals for that production will commence in the next few weeks.

  • Mamma Mia! is still scheduled to open, with a preview on April 7th. The full run is scheduled from April 9th thru April 26th.

It should be noted that Night Kitchen Too on March 21st has been cancelled by their production team. This decision was made independently of any concerns expressed by the BTG.

To protect yourself and others, we ask that anyone who is feeling unwell refrain from visiting us so that together we can ensure a safe and comfortable experience for everyone. Our cast members have been advised to stay home if unwell and have been respecting this need at this important time. Know that we are doing our part to ensure our members and staff feel protected and know to stay home if they aren't well.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and will provide ongoing updates as needed. We also encourage you to stay up to date through your local Health Unit, Canada Public Health and the World Health Organization.

We thank you for your continued support of the theatre arts in Belleville and will continue to update you as needed.

With thanks,

The Board of Directors of the Belleville Theatre Guild - March 14, 2020
